What is LSVT-BIG therapy?<\/h3><\/div>

The newly developed LSVT BIG treatment, derived from the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT),<\/strong> belongs to the latest approaches that seek to restore normal range of motion by recalibrating the patient’s perception of movement execution. For people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, deficits in motor function increase during the course of the disease, exacerbating disability.<\/p>\n

These deficits result from the loss of dopamine-secreting neurons in the motor circuits of the basal ganglia that are essential for movement control and coordination.<\/p>\n

There is evidence that these exercises are neuroprotective and, if done regularly, can help the brain produce growth factors to protect dopamine-producing neurons from premature death. The high intensity of LSVT BIG is predefined by a training mode of 16 individual sessions of 1 hour for 4 weeks and an independent training program at home. In addition, each exercise is repeated at least 8 times and is performed with an effort of 80% of the maximum workload.<\/p>\n<\/div>
