Motion Sensitivity to improve posture on daily living activities
The act of moving the head or body in space can lead to dizziness/nausea/imbalance and other symptoms that can affect the body posture of daily life.
At the NeuroFT Clinic, we use motion sensitivity therapy; A laser that is used to work on the ability to perceive where the body is in space. It can be used for lumbar, dorsal, cervical postural correction, weight distribution, etc.
Some examples of activities that can cause symptoms are: moving the head to observe the environment, turning to respond to someone, turning/moving the body while cooking or storing purchases in the kitchen, etc.
Motion Sensitivity Therapy
Several studies have shown a relationship between motion sensitivity and decreased postural stability. Symptoms may include visual and postural instability, pallor, sweating, excessive salivation, headaches, drowsiness, malaise, nausea and vomiting.
In the video we can see a NeuroFT patient working cervical mobility.
Co-relation between head movement and posture
Laser therapy is used to treat pain, injury, mobility, and other symptoms caused by performing activities of daily living incorrectly.
People with motion sensitivity often complain of postural instability and/or dizziness, which is an uncomfortable sensation that may be associated with head movement and not necessarily as a result of vestibular dysfunction.
Research supports an effect of head movement on postural stability. Horizontal movements are probably more relevant to routine activities of daily living and comprise a substantial portion of the head movements associated with daily balance activities.
Lackner and Graybiel examined the effects of the direction of head movement on motion sensitivity and found that all movements elicit sensitivity. Therefore, postural stability may be worse during vertical head movement compared to horizontal movement.
At the NeuroFT Clinic we care not only about healing the symptoms but about going to the root of the problem. Posture has an important impact on our health and quality of life, therefore, we work to improve the correct posture of patients who are having limitations of movement, pain and other pathologies due to poor execution.
If you are interested in an assessment with our professionals, do not hesitate to schedule an appointment at either of our two locations.
