For the diagnosis of cervical pain, a complete clinical history of cervical symptomatology is required. The examination should include assessment of posture, cervical mobility and painful areas, as well as an evaluation of nerve and muscle function in the arms and legs.
Simple X-rays can be used to view the cervical vertebrae and make a diagnosis, which often allows to find the cause of neck pain and the way of treatment.
