The sacrum is the posterior bone of the pelvis, the last one where the spine triggers, commonly called the “tailbone”. The Sacro Wedgy is a tool used to align and stabilize the sacrum. By stabilizing it, the pelvic musculature can relax more quickly. Aligning biomechanical imbalances in the area and strengthen muscles are in a more objective way.

How is a sacro wedgy placed?

To place the sacro wedgy, the person should be lying on their side to place the device at the level of the buttocks. You can do an exercise of pressure up to the top  and then with the index finger hold the tool in this position placed in the center of the buttocks.

Then place the piece of black foam to give more stability, followed by carefully turning on your back and stretching your legs. A neck support should be kept as shown in the picture.

Correct use of the Sacro Wedgy

In the correct position, lying on the Sacro Wedgy, the psoas muscle (hip flexor) should be released. This muscle contributes to back pain and unnecessary back rotation.

To achieve relaxation, first bend one leg (while the other is stretched out) and then stretch the leg on tiptoe. This should be repeated at least five times with each leg, holding the toed foot in the final position. All the muscles that go from the back to the pelvis and from there to the femur should be felt. The objective is that all these muscles relax when stretching the legs.

These types of tools are useful in the treatment of conditions in the lower back area. It is important that the use of the Sacro Wedgy is carried out under the instructions of your therapist, so it is advisable to clear all doubts prior to its use. At NeuroFT, the use of this type of instrument is done with the aim of improving the quality of life of each of our patients, therefore, if you have pain in this part of the body, do not hesitate to contact us to start looking for a solution.
